Check out the Art Brussels online platform, in collaboration with GalleryViewer.com. Galerie Thomas Fischer is now presenting works by Margrét H. Blöndal and Sebastian Stumpf. Further information.

The new drawings of Margrét H. Blöndal have a fragile, fleeting effect and yet are strangely compelling. It can be difficult to precisely define the source of her work’s beauty and attraction, a little like air slipping through your fingers or trying to catch a butterfly. This is surely the reason that Margrét H. Blöndal’s drawings have been compared to reading a book of poetry and her installations with musical compositions, where each unit is like a single note in the whole.

Sebastian Stumpf has never seen anyone sitting in a Barcelona chair by Mies van der Rohe. "In my photographs, the posture of the body works against the serious appearance of the furniture. The photographic moment imbues the fleeting constellation of body and furniture with a sculptural quality. It’s a gesture without clear symbolic meaning. In the early modern period, when acrobatic exercises were scientifically analyzed and documented for the first time, those in power also thought these exercises had some subversive, albeit hard to pinpoint, potential."
